Soil and Geophysical investigation

Soil Investigation is a critical step in assessing ground conditions for safe and efficient design and construction. At GTS, our soil investigations combine geotechnical, geophysical, and laboratory testing methods to provide a complete understanding of subsurface conditions.

Key Offering

  • Determine soil stratification, strength, and bearing capacity.
  • Assess settlement characteristics and foundation suitability.
  • Identify groundwater conditions and their impact on construction.
  • Evaluate soil properties for pavement, embankment, and structural stability.

Methods

  • Field Investigations – Boreholes, trial pits, cone penetration tests (CPT), standard penetration tests (SPT), Plate load, and In-suit CBR.
  • Geophysical Surveys – Seismic, resistivity, and ground-penetrating radar for subsurface mapping.
  • Laboratory Testing – Classification, compaction, permeability, shear strength, and consolidation tests.

Capabilities

  • Sample Preparation
We recognise that sample preparation is critical to producing a representative, homogenous sub-sample from the original raw material. GTS offers a wide range of preparation methods including drying, crushing, splitting, pulverising, and screening. Our state-of-the-art crushers and pulverisers ensure consistency and reproducibility. Specialised preparation protocols can also be customized to meet project-specific requirements.
  • Multi-Elemental Analysis
For geological exploration, GTS utilises advanced ICP-MS and ICP-OES technologies to deliver high-precision analysis of base metals, critical minerals, trace elements, and rare earth elements (REE). This enables clients to obtain robust data for resource evaluation and process optimization.
  • Precious Metals Analysis
With extensive expertise in precious metals testing, GTS provides reliable and reproducible results for gold, silver, and platinum group elements (PGEs). We apply a range of techniques including fire assay, cyanide leach, and aqua regia digestion, enabling accurate determination from parts-per-billion to percent concentrations
  • Bulk Commodity Analysis
Our laboratory specialises in bulk commodity testing, using fusion decomposition, pellet techniques, and XRF (EDXRF & WDXRF) methods for industrial minerals and ores such as iron ore, bauxite, manganese, and chromite. Common evaluations include moisture content, loss on ignition (LOI), and elemental composition
  • 5. Quality Control & Assurance
Quality underpins everything we do. GTS operates under an integrated Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS), enabling traceability, data integrity, and real-time oversight. Our global quality program incorporates proficiency testing (PTP), inter-laboratory comparisons, and scheduled audits. We are fully aligned with ISO/IEC 17025:2017 and ISO 9001:2015 standards, ensuring every result meets international benchmarks for accuracy and reliability.

Value to Clients

With precise geochemical data, our clients gain confidence in resource valuation, process optimization, and project decision-making. This ensures maximum return on investment while reducing exploration and operational risks.
