Soil Testing

Soil testing is a vital process in construction, geotechnical engineering, agriculture, and environmental management. It involves analyzing soil properties to determine its suitability for a specific use, particularly for supporting structures such as buildings, roads, and bridges. These tests provide essential data on soil composition, strength, compaction, permeability, and bearing capacity. Common objectives of soil testing include:

  • Evaluating soil strength and stability for foundation design
  • Determining moisture content and compaction characteristics
  • Classifying soil types (clay, silt, sand, gravel)
  • Understanding chemical composition for corrosion or contamination concerns
  • Assessing slope stability and settlement risks

Soil tests are conducted both in the field (e.g., Field Density test by sand cone method or any alternative, Plate Load Test and In-Situ CBR) and in the laboratory (e.g., Sieve Analysis Atterberg Limits, Proctor Compaction, Triaxial Shear, CBR…Etc.).

Our services include both in-situ field testing and laboratory analysis performed to international standards such as ASTM, BS, and AASHTO

Deliverables:

Certified test reports detailing all the client and project details as well as the results and compliance status Whether for small-scale residential developments or large-scale infrastructure projects, our soil testing services ensure that every project begins with a solid understanding of the ground it stands on.

Aggregates

sand, gravel, crushed stone are fundamental components of concrete, asphalt, and other construction materials. Aggregates testing is essential to evaluate their physical, mechanical, and chemical properties to ensure compliance with quality standards and suitability for intended construction applications.

The quality of aggregates affects the strength, durability, and workability of the final product. Therefore, testing is carried out to assess parameters such as size, shape, strength, cleanliness, moisture content, and resistance to weathering or abrasion.

Testing standards typically follow ASTM, BS, AASHTO, or local specifications to ensure performance in structural applications like roads, bridges, buildings, and pavements.

GTS provides comprehensive aggregates testing services to support quality control and assurance in construction materials. Our laboratory is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment and staffed by qualified technicians who perform tests in strict accordance with international standards (ASTM, BS, AASHTO).

Our services help contractors, consultants, and suppliers verify aggregate properties to meet design and durability requirements.

Deliverables:

Certified test reports detailing all the client and project details as well as the results and compliance status Our aggregate testing ensures that construction materials meet structural and durability standards, contributing to the long-term success of your project.

Concrete and Concrete Product

Concrete is one of the most widely used construction materials due to its strength, durability, and versatility. Testing concrete and its related products is essential to ensure performance, structural integrity, and compliance with local and international standards.

Concrete testing involves both fresh concrete tests (performed immediately after mixing) and hardened concrete tests (after curing), in addition to tests for precast elements and concrete masonry units. These evaluations help in assessing parameters like workability, compressive strength, durability, density, setting time, and chemical resistance.

Concrete product testing includes precast blocks, paving tiles, kerbstones, interlocks, and hollow blocks, ensuring they meet dimensional, load-bearing, and absorption standards.

GTS offers a full range of concrete and concrete product testing services to verify the quality, strength, and durability of concrete used in structural and non-structural applications. Our testing is conducted under strict quality assurance protocols in accordance with ASTM, BS EN, ACI, and other relevant standards. We support projects from the initial design stage through to construction and post-construction assessment, ensuring materials conform to project specifications and regulatory requirements.

Deliverables:

  • Standardized test reports with full data and compliance remarks
  • Field inspection and sampling assistance
  • Technical partner for mix design based on optimization, rejection, or improvement

GTS ensures your concrete and precast materials meet structural demands, resist environmental stressors, and contribute to the overall success and longevity of your projects.

Construction Steel

Construction steel such as reinforcing bars (rebars), structural steel sections, and welded mesh is a critical material in the structural framework of buildings, bridges, and infrastructure. Steel testing ensures compliance with strength, ductility, and weldability standards that are essential for structural safety and long-term performance.

Tests are conducted to verify mechanical properties (like yield strength and elongation), chemical composition (for quality and grade identification), and physical characteristics (such as diameter, weight, and deformation). These tests help confirm that the steel meets project specifications and national/international codes like ASTM, BS EN, AASHTO, and ISO.

GTS provides reliable and accredited construction steel testing services to validate the quality, strength, and compliance of steel products used in civil and infrastructure projects. Our tests cover reinforcement steel, structural steel sections, and fabricated steel components, conducted according to ASTM, BS EN, ISO, and AASHTO standards. Our lab is equipped with modern universal testing machines (UTMs), spectrometers, and precision measuring tools, enabling us to deliver accurate and timely results for both raw materials and finished products.

Deliverables:

  • Detailed test reports indicating compliance with applicable standards
  • Technical material acceptance criteria based on the project requirement

Our testing services help clients ensure that steel materials used on-site are structurally sound, meet required codes, and contribute to safe and reliable construction practices.
